This is not a lake, but the park next to our house. Mom and Dad lived across the street from it when they were here. We had many days of rain fall a couple of weeks ago and I was amazed at the chaos it caused. Arizona has a very tough
terrain and the water doesn't soak into the ground very quickly. So, they build a lot of drainage areas, such as our park, for the rain to go when it gets bad, which it does every once in a while. I however, was amazed at the reactions from people. Yes, it was a record rain fall, and yes, the winds got so high that we had a
tornado watch, but in my mind it was "just rain." But, "just rain" in Arizona can really be a big deal with flash floods, and high winds, that it was a bit scary. I sat at home that night and watched the many "winter weather warnings" that continued to
interrupt my
television shows and was just rather intrigued by it all. Now, this would have been an awesome snow storm in Idaho, but it caused a lot of chaos just the same here in Arizona.
I didn't realize that you had such a nice view of the lake from your house! lol. That really was some crazy weather. I loved all the rain we received, but I didn't love that the high winds took the satellite dish right off our house! The Carlile children had to go without tv for 3 whole days.... not fun! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how the weather in many different forms affect us all.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny to see the difference of how weather affects different areas. We had an ice storm and we could have skated in our drive way. One car we about hit because it slide out of the driveway into the road. Jory had to go tell the owner. If we get much of anything, school's closed and people can hardly funtion. Hope you are feeling better!
ReplyDeletewow--what a beautiful view. It's funny what different parts of the country consider a "storm". Everyone should have to experience a Rexburg winter huh? Hope you are feeling better. You have been in my thoughts and prayers.
